MISSION
Density512 is a chamber orchestra and collective of brave and open musicians who champion contemporary programming. We tell stories through imaginatively curated experiences, amplify the voices of groundbreaking and emerging artists, and cultivate interdisciplinary collaborations.
STORY
As a collective, we seek to build inclusive community and partnerships through music and storytelling. Our aim is to tell stories from across our community and those that are reflective of the diversity of experiences that are held by our collective members, collaborators, and broader community members.
Since 2017 Density512 has given more than 30 world premieres, served over 8,000 live attendees, and reached over 100,000 people through radio and television performances. Density512 recently premiered the Holocaust Remembrance Opera Eva and the Angel of Death, played at the 2022 SXSW Music Festival, launched classical radio station KMFA 89.5’s Off Beat Series, co-curated Fast Forward Austin’s 2018 new music festival, and participated in nine performances of Ragnar Kjartannson’s kinetic sculpture S.S. Hangover at The Contemporary Austin with Kjarten Sveinsson of Sigur Rós.
Additional collaborations include projects with the Austin Chamber Music Center, The Contemporary Austin, Blanton Museum of Art, Silent Films Out Loud, Fast Forward Austin, Thinkery, Liminal Sound Series, UMLAUF Sculpture Garden, HUB New Music, American Berserk Theatre, Red Night Fall Productions, Gilbert & Sullivan Austin, Golden Hornet, and the Austin Public Library.
